BOOK ONE: THE BASE REMAINS UNBROKEN

NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

The Base Remains Unbroken  is the first book in a ground-breaking memoir series that invites you, the reader, inside the mind and life of a male survivor of childhood sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and neglect.  Offering  a gripping and visceral depiction and explanation of the reasoning process, thinking, and behavior patterns that were adopted and developed in response to the abuse that has been suffered, endured, and overcome.

Told in a format that uses amazing visual imagery,  The Base Remains Unbroken takes its readers on an unforgettable and heartbreaking journey to helps them see and understand - first hand - how the abuse came about and how it was processed, rationalized, and stored within the mind and body to create the life that was ultimately played out.

We are born into this world clean slates and it is from the roots of our childhood that a foundation is set for our lives. Just as a house must have a firm foundation upon which to build and support the remaining structure, so must a person’s life have an adequate foundation. It is this foundation, this base, which allows a person to build a life for themselves upon. Just like a house, as we grow and age into adulthood, we build additions, weather storms that batter and beat our exteriors, and perhaps may  even be consumed by pain and suffering so overwhelming that the framework we have erected is broken and scorched to the ground. But one thing remains, no matter what happens to the house itself: the foundation, the base, remains unbroken.

SAVING GRACE

NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

The story continues in the second book of this heartfelt and visceral memoir series, Saving Grace. Picking up where The Base Remains Unbroken leaves off, the story continues as this broken young boy continues to grow into a teenager; struggling to make sense of a world that wants to help and “save” him but instead makes him feel increasingly isolated and unloved.

The foundational base has been fired in the kiln and is now set to cool for a time. The traumatic repercussions resultant from the abuse our young survivor endured are now a solidly melded part of his foundational psyche and cognition . In Saving Grace, we are given an insightful and gripping view into the lingering effects of the abuse as the beginnings of a stable support structure does its best to hold itself up and take root around this secretive, shape-shifting base.

The imprints of our childhood leave an indelible mark on our hearts and our minds as we continue to grow and mature, and while we often do our best to fit in and appear "normal",  Like a beautifully crafted, cusotm-built house built on an unknown fault line, it is only a matter of time before the beautiful exterior breaks and calves into a pile of rubble. While the foundation still stands, the delicate structure that was tentatively built for beauty and outward appearance is revealed for the facade it was. Now, its owners, thankful to have come through the traumatic event alive,  must work to rebuild their home and build a more solid and stable framework and structure upon the uncertain and shaky ground. But to rebuild a sturdy structure on the same ground  only provides  a false sense of security and results in a warped sense of saving grace that will likely result in further devastation and destruction.
